Thanks for checking us out, below is a brief history of each band member.

Oz

Oz - Vocals/Guitar and Guitar Synth.

The band was started in 1991 by myself and Keith, and in those days it was a four piece with guitars and drums.  We soon had a huge following playing all sorts of classic rock songs.  After a break we teamed up with three ex-members of Jagged Edge, we had another break in 1999, then we came back as a Quo tribute band called Four Play Quo until going back to the Band of Oz 18 months later.  We have two new members now, there wonderful chaps and look forward to a years of rocking.

Equipment:

I use a Gibson SG standard (ace), a Marshall JCM 900 and a Marshall 1936 2x12 cab.  My FX pedals are, a Flanger, Phaser, Chorus and a Tanglewood SG guitar for a Roland RG 20 guitar synth.  Not forgetting my Gob Iron and a Shure SM 58 mic.

Keith - Vocals/Lead Guitar.

Hi there dudes, just a quick hello to tell you a little bit of history.  I first picked up a battered old acoustic guitar at the age of 14, and after weeks of sore fingers and books of "play in a day" i was hooked.  Something like 20 bands later here i am, I've been in the same bands with Oz for donkies years and hope we my continue for many years too come.

Equipment:

I use Fender, Gibson and Ibanez guitars, a 100 by 100 stereo Marshall amp, Marshall pre amp, a Marshall 4x12 cab and a Boss multi-effects pedal.  So come to a gig and check us out.

Keith

Andy

Andy - Drums/Backing Vocals.

I started playing the drums at the age of 17, i had lessons with a private tutor then had more lessons at 25 with the drummer from the Buzzcocks.  I previously played in a band from Oldham called The Runs (for 8 years), before coming to live in Huddersfield, i've been living here for 4 years now and had the plesure of playing in a couple of great bands.  I met Oz while working at the same place and became great friends, now we are in the same band, and what a band it is !!!!!

Equipment:

I use a Premier Artist Maple in pearl white (the same size as the late great Jon Bonham's) with Zildjian 'A' and 'Z' custom cymbals and all Premier 4000 series hardware.  Shure SM58 mic and various drum mic's.  Not forgetting my huge animal from the Muppets.

Derek - Vocals/Bass.

Hi, I'm Derek.  I've been playing the bass since I was fourteen, some 20 years ago (ish!).  After starting on drums then rhythm guitar, I chose bass cos it only has 4 strings (being lazy, I thought it'd be easier than 6).  Most of my musical career has been in the clubs with bands, trios and duo's - even solo once over.

Equipment:

I use a Fender Bass (nice and old but great) with a Behringer BX4500H Ultrabass 450 watt amp, together with a Behringer BB410 cab (which houses 4x10'' Bugera speakers and a horn, ticking over gently at 1200 watts).   Looks and sounds great, but I can't lift it!  Who knows, soon I might even get my head round a foot pedal or two.

Pete - Sound Engineer/Chief Van Driver

Pete
No I am not deaf; I just think a rock band has to be loud to sound right.

If you think it is too loud move towards the back of the room away from the speakers (big black noisey things at the front) and it will not seem so loud.

History, involvement in electronics and music at an early age, no manual dexterity to play anything but a keyboard badly many years ago. Gave up on any aspirations of playing and started building and repairing valve amps. Formed my own P.A. hire and equipment company in 1991 which was very successful until I had to close it down in 2000 due to ill health. With the knowledge of how sound equipment works and a good ear for what a live mix should sound like I developed my abilities as a sound engineer until I was doing front of house sound for festivals and concerts from Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and Birmingham etc, with music ranging from blues to folk to rock and even a 70 piece choir on a regular basis. Currently with the Band of Oz and not looking for anything else as I have enough other things to do already, i.e. no spare time at all.
